Two Notes

  • Mary Macpherson’s book of photographs Old New World is being launched this week, with the accompanying exhibition opening at Lopdell House Gallery in Auckland. The photographs look at change in small towns in New Zealand; more information is available at Mary’s blog, here – and in an interview on Radio New Zealand’s Nine to Noon programme on 12 June, available, at time of writing, here.
  • The National Library of New Zealand has established a blog on its new beta site. Photography-related posts to date include Mark Strange on his recent conservation work treating photographs on acetate film – including a remarkable pair of ‘before and after’ images – and Kirsty Willis on attaching captioning data to a collection of digitised images (featuring some humorous mismatches as well as some great 1970s styles).
